Our Story

After returning to Billings, Montana, after 25 years, we noticed a significant gap in bike recycling programs, especially with a large homeless population in need of reliable transportation. This observation led to the creation of Billings Environmentally Sustainable Transportation, doing business as RePedal, in 2017.

We started small, renting a garage in Billings and conducting 2-3 DIY workshops with donated pedal bikes. The name "RePedal" reflects our commitment to recycling and repurposing bikes. Over the years, we’ve taken in and recycled almost 200 bikes, giving them a new lease on life.

Adapting to Challenges

The year 2020 brought unprecedented challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic. With a lack of volunteers and feeling a bit burned out, we decided to work smarter. This led to the launch of our online store, EcoRideMT. While it has been a slow journey, we’ve learned a lot along the way.

We’ve discovered that many electric bikes come from the same manufacturers but are sold under different brand names.
